Normally, when you drop by the blog here you are reading something from my perspective penned by yours truly. This time, I am sharing something a little different. A while back, I was approached by Red River Paper to become an affiliate with them and that they also wanted to do a blog feature on my photography. You might not be familiar with this company, but it is one that I have had a relationship with since 2007 when I picked up my first DSLR and chose to do high quality printing at home at a size larger than my desktop printer. Doing this type of printing is a little more difficult than just hitting print on your computer. Large format printers and dedicated photo printers are very sensitive to color input and output and will print on a number of different paper sources. After a lot of research, I landed on this company for my paper needs because they were a much better value than some of the bigger names out there. They offered driver support for my specific printer as well as detailed instructions on how to arrive at the best possible print. I ordered several sizes and started printing with better-than-expected results.
Fast forward nearly two decades later and I am still using Red River Paper for all of my printing here in the studio (13×19″ or smaller size). I’ve added to the types of paper that I am using with the addition of the Baryta paper which I absolutely love for all fine art printing. The drivers are constantly updated for new paper and new printers with very dependable results. I have never had an issue printing on this paper from either Canon printer that I have used over the years. There have been times I’ve been tempted to go a different route and pick a more expensive or established brand for a particular job, but I just can’t justify straying because no matter what the job is, I’ve found an appropriate selection through Red River Paper to fit my needs.
It came as a shock that they wanted to showcase my work in their blog. The submission materials were sent in which I thought would ultimately be shelved for not being grand enough for them, but surprisingly, they continued on with the process. Just yesterday, I got the email with the link to the article that they wrote and found it to be very flattering and well presented. I just wanted to take this opportunity to share it with everyone.
