Introduction to Photography: Summer Class
An Introduction to the Art of Photography
Do you have a camera that you are afraid to use? Maybe you just want to move away from full auto and experience the joy of creativity through photography? Would you just like to understand some of the basics better than you do? This is the class for you! It is geared to those who are wanting to step out of their comfort zone and take that next step towards capturing those special images. In this class, I will go into the basics as well as explain why a dedicated camera is a valuable option in today’s cell phone world. We will look at concepts of exposure and how to find the right settings for the scene and location, by using the tools that the camera offers. We will discuss how to focus, and where to focus to get that sharp image that you are after. We will spend some time dealing with composition and figure out how to organize a scene that best represents your reason for capturing the image in the first place. You don’t need much experience at all to benefit from this class. You just need a camera and a willingness to learn. The day will be broken up into two parts. The first part will be the longest and will take place in a classroom setting where we will discuss the major topics of the day. The latter part of the class will be practical exercises with your camera where you will put to use what you have learned. I’ll be with you every step of the way to help you learn those next steps in your own quest for photography. This is only for the capture of the images as I will not be getting into the post processing end of photography in this particular class. Bring questions as my main purpose in having this class is to make you more comfortable with your camera and prepared to look into the art of photography. Please bring any owner’s manuals for specific instructions on how your camera works.
